MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF
Are you looking at this page because you are considering applying to be a Commerce Police Officer? If so, let me do my part and try and convince you to fill out an application.
As you know, the events of September 11, 2001 impacted the entire world and each of us individually on some level. This attack on our country has cast a positive light on public safety, making those with badges heroes. You are now considering entering a career where you and your peers will be looked upon as heroes because of a commitment that you are willing to make to your community. A commitment that says “ I will do everything in my power to protect you.” Words cannot describe the rewards and feelings of accomplishment one gets from being a police officer. This is a great opportunity to do a meaningful job in the community. As a Commerce Police Officer your job will be exciting, rewarding, and satisfying.
I am very proud of the men and women of the Commerce Police Department and have a great deal of respect for each and every one of them. Once you become a member of the Commerce Police Department, you have become part of a large family that is there to encourage and support you.
So, if you think that you have the qualities that we are looking for in a Commerce Police Officer, get going on that application! What are some of the qualities that are looked for? When a new police officer is hired, the first thing I look at is the person's integrity. Do they have a life history of being honest and forthright? I look for someone who doesn’t mind working hard and having fun; because that is what I ask of my officers. I look for people who respect themselves because that is the only way they will show respect for others.
So, are you ready to embark on a rewarding career with a great police department? I hope to see your application real soon.
